We treat a child's question as the beginning of a lesson rather than an interruption to one.
Respect
Children are spoken to as people. We expect the same of them toward each other and toward their teachers.
Independence
We would rather a child struggle briefly and succeed alone than finish quickly with an adult's hands on the work.
Community
Learning here is shared. Children plan together, disagree productively, and finish things together.
Integrity
Honesty is practised in small daily moments, which is the only place it is ever really learned.
Joy
A child who enjoys school learns more than a child who endures it. We take that seriously as a design constraint.
