What progressive education looks like on a Tuesday
A progressive classroom is not a classroom without structure. It is a classroom where the structure serves the child rather than the schedule.
A morning might begin with a question a child raised the day before. The teacher has prepared materials, a plan, and a clear learning goal — but the route there is negotiated with the children, and the work they produce is their own rather than a copy of the board.
Children move, talk, and make things. They also sit, listen, and practise. Both matter, and knowing which a particular child needs on a particular day is the craft we hire and train for.
